DIY T-Shirt Rope Bone

My wife and I recently aquired a year cane corso "pup" (85 lbs and underweight) from a Chicago rescue organization (reycledrotts.org) named Isis and along with her came the need for approved chew toys to keep her off of our house slippers and other random items. I was looking to buy a rope bone but did a quick DIY search first. I came accross this article that shows making a rope bone out of old dishtowels. I have more spare t-shirts than towels so I applied the same technique to the alternate medium.

Tools and material:
T-shirt
Scissors

Process:
Lay the t shirt flat and cut off the arms
Fold and cut the t-shirt into thirds

Fold each section lengthwise over itself twice to create three ~2'x15" bundles

Cut the hemmed portion off of the sleeves and cut the resulting loop of fabric to make one long 1"x10" strip
Repeat for other sleeve
Use the 1"x10" strips just created to tie up one end of the bundled 2"x15" pieces

Braid the three pieces. It helps to have someone else hold the tied end in order for you to pull the braids tight. This will give the bone more rigidity (feel free to chuckle at that).

Enjoy!
